1. About this policy
1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how Smart Edge Tech Limited, trading as Lyonga, uses cookies and similar technologies on the Lyonga website and merchant dashboard. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1.2 Our approach is simple: we use the cookies we need to run a secure payments service, we remember your preferences when you ask us to, and we do not use cookies for advertising.
2. What cookies are
2.1 Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let the website recognise your device, keep you signed in and remember settings. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in a similar way, and this policy covers them too.
2.2 “Session” cookies are deleted when you close your browser. “Persistent” cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. “First-party” cookies are set by us; “third-party” cookies are set by another organisation.
3. The cookies we use
3.1 The table below sets out the categories of cookies we use.
| Category | What they do | Examples | How long | Consent needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep you signed in, protect forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF), detect suspicious sign-in activity, and route traffic between our servers (load balancing). | Session, security and CSRF tokens; load balancer cookies | Session, or up to the length of your signed-in session | No. The website and dashboard cannot work safely without them. |
| Preferences | Remember choices you make, such as dismissing a notice or settings in the dashboard, so you do not have to set them again. | Interface settings | Up to 12 months | Set only when you make a choice. You can clear them at any time. |
| Analytics | Understand, in aggregate, how the website is used so we can improve it. If we use analytics, we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool that does not track you across websites. | None set. Aggregated page counts only. | Not applicable | Not applicable while no analytics cookies are set. |
| Advertising | We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. | None | Not applicable | Not applicable |
3.2 Our cookies are first-party cookies. Where a payment page or verification step is provided by a partner, such as Lipila or a payment network, that partner may set its own cookies needed for security and fraud prevention. Those cookies are governed by the partner's own policies.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
4.1 We use strictly necessary cookies to:
- keep you signed in to the dashboard as you move between pages (session cookies);
- protect accounts, for example by recognising a trusted device during multi-factor sign-in and detecting unusual sign-in attempts (security cookies);
- check that a form submission really came from you and not from another website (CSRF protection); and
- send your requests to an available server so the service stays fast and reliable (load balancing).
4.2 These cookies do not track you for marketing purposes and are not used to build a profile of you. Because they are needed to provide a service you have asked for and to keep it secure, we do not ask for consent to use them.
5. Analytics
5.1 If we measure how the website is used, we do so with a privacy-friendly analytics approach that does not use cookies, does not identify individual visitors, and reports only aggregated figures such as the number of visits to a page. If we ever decide to use analytics that relies on cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.
6. How to control cookies
6.1 Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies through their settings. The help pages of your browser explain how.
6.2 If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website, and in particular the merchant dashboard, will not work, and you may not be able to sign in.
7. Changes to this policy
7.1 We will update this policy if the cookies we use change. The date of the latest version is shown at the top of this page.
8. Contact us
8.1 If you have questions about our use of cookies, contact privacy@lyonga.com.
